Breezy Bluff is one of the newest luxury villas in Dominica — a showcase of how modern architecture and materials can hold Caribbean design principles rather than replace them. Recently completed, generously outfitted, and sited high on the bluff with the Atlantic laid out in front of it.
Two suite-style bedrooms sit at opposite ends of the home, separated by a living area that opens into the great room and gourmet kitchen, then out to a covered deck built for long dinners and longer afternoons.
Out back: a pool, a large sun deck, chaise lounges, and an outdoor sectional for when you’ve had enough sun. The trade winds do the rest — warm days, cool air, year round, side of the island that gets it right.
Breezy Bluff was built around the way the wind moves through it — and around the idea that it should never need anything from the grid.
01
Both bedrooms are suite-style with air conditioning and luxurious baths — rain showers in each, and a deep soaking tub in the master. Placing them on either side of the living area means two couples never share a wall.
02
The living area flows into the great room and gourmet kitchen, then straight out to the covered deck. One continuous space, cross-ventilated by the breeze the villa is named for.
03
A pool and a large deck with chaise lounges out back, a charcoal BBQ and smoker on the deck, and covered seating front and back for the rain that keeps Dominica green.
04
All power is solar, backed by a wind turbine and a generator, with a reserve water tank on standby. Whatever the weather decides to do, the lights stay on and the water runs.
Pagua Bay House sits on the wild Atlantic coast of Dominica — the side of the island most travelers never see.
Seven private accommodations look out over the bay. An open-air restaurant serves what the island gave us that morning.
The airport is ten minutes away, the rain forest a few more.
Rick and Alicia built this place themselves in 2010. It still feels that way.
Sleeps five with real bedrooms — not a pull-out compromise. Space for parents and kids to be apart and together.
Sleeps six across two suites, with a pool out back and enough separation that nobody is on top of anybody. There’s an Xbox in the guest room for the one rainy hour.
Two suites at opposite ends of the home, each with its own bath. Travel as a group without negotiating a bathroom schedule.
A gourmet kitchen, a BBQ and smoker, laundry, and a pool. Breezy Bluff is built for a week, not a weekend — and the island deserves the week.
Breezy Bluff sits just 10 minutes south of Douglas-Charles Airport — about the shortest transfer to a villa of this kind anywhere on the island.
The villa is managed by Pagua Bay House, our boutique hotel two minutes down the road. You’ll meet us there to collect keys and run through the villa, and you’ll have full access to the bar and restaurant with a charge account opened in your name.
Our team stays at your disposal for the length of your stay — activities, guides, reservations, or just a question about where to swim tomorrow.
One honest note
Dominica isn’t a large island, but the roads are serpentine and the island is genuinely worth driving. You’ll want a rental car — we can arrange one, along with your airport transfer. Reach out to Pagua Bay House directly.
There is a great deal within easy reach of Breezy Bluff. These are the ones we send guests to first.
5 MIN
Serene, shallow and fabulous for swimming and river tubing. The easiest half-day on this coast, and the one that needs no planning at all.
20 MIN
An extraordinary cultural experience detailing the history of Dominica’s Indigenous people — the last remaining Kalinago community in the Caribbean.
20 MIN
The best beach on the island, and worth every minute of the drive. Golden sand, palms leaning over the water, and rarely a crowd.
NEARBY
Two segments of the Waitukubuli Trail finish at the Pagua River. The Charles Warner Trail ends at a private swimming hole with a small but lovely waterfall.
